How can we unbox the potential of crypto? The project aims to design a secure physical solution for people to easily store, manage and use their crypto assets. In collaboration with Ledger, the concept creates a vision of what a premium hardware wallet experience would be like.

Hardware "wallet"

Crypto assets are coming into our life, from being used as a way of payment (Tesla accepts Dogecoin), to representing real-world goods, arts, digital identity etc.

However, current tools for managing these assets are in their early stage, usually with a deep learning curve and poor usability.

Users typically need to plug in a thumb drive that looks like hardware into a computer with special software installed, and twig between these devices multiple times to even make one transaction, like using a bank security token 20 years ago.

With Ledger.

A user-centered approach was taken to explore how we can manage crypto assets differently and easily. And in collaboration with Ledger, I started building on what Ledger has nowadays.

I researched different ways of managing crypto assets, and tested out many solutions for both digital and physical wallets. The challenge is to find a balance between good user-experience and security.

Design process.

Many mockups and prototypes are made and tried out by different users to prove and improve the concept.

Digital interfaces are also prototyped and integrated. The final model was milled, printed and painted.

Using the Ledger Terminal in real life couldn't be easier.

Ledger Terminal.

Terminal is a physical solution for people to store, manage and use their crypto assets smoothly and securely by storing seed phrases in a separate card.

It provides full isolation between private keys and easy-to-hack smart devices, which allows users to truly own their crypto assets safely and utilize them to their full potential without an effort.

like a reckless genius.

Terminal is a hardware solution with two parts and one add-on: seed card, terminal, and dock port.

The encrypted seed card stores a long private key (256 digits) of users' crypto assets, offline and independently. And to access or use the assets, simply by inserting the seed card into the Terminal and verifying the card with a 6 digits PIN code and fingerprint for the device itself. The WiFi-connected Terminal can show different assets from currencies to NFTs.

Crypto within reach.

And without the need to pair with a phone or computer, users can access their crypto easily, from sending or receiving assets with a few touches when NFC is enabled, to using their assets on the blockchain like making payments, borrowing, and lending other assets on trusted decentralized protocols.

A system for all users.

The docking port connects and charges the Terminal wirelessly, and allows coders, experts, or professional investors to test and access the latest applications without worrying about funds being stolen or lost.

Either you need to access Curve.fi for some stable coin swap, or borrow and lend assets on Solend, you can achieve all the DeFi stuff you love with Terminal as well.

When the docking port connects with the terminal device.

A tangible solution for
not only the brave,
but all of us.

The concept Terminal can impact and educate more people into the blockchain technology and giving them easy access to crypto assets.

For not only the maximalists, but for all of us who want to just try it out, even with little or no experience.
